MISSION 3

Congratulations on making it through your first two missions and welcome to mission three! This will be your final mission!

In this mission, you and your trusty team members will be creating a creature so fantastic it'll blow the fire out of a dragon's mouth!

First thing's first, since this final mission's product will be 3-D Printed, our creators have to go through a training period in a program called tinkercad.

This site will give you the skills you need to make your creature with your team members. Log in with your Google account and go through the tutorials!

Float on over to the link! https://www.tinkercad.com

Great! Now that you and your group members have gone through the tutorials, you can each come up with an idea for your group's creature. You will all come together and add a characteristic of your own to a creature of your group's choice.

Need inspiration? Revisit the Creature Gallery!

What characteristics can you and your teammates come up with for your creature? If each of you are interested in a certain characteristic of the creature how can you adapt the creature to fit this? Will it have three hands? Four foreheads? There are no limits to the imagination or to your creature.

Decide on  your creature, create it on tinkercad and save the file to Google Classroom. Make sure everyone participates in talking about this and agrees on the creature. Everyone should add a part to the creature as it is being made on tinkercad.

Each of you need to make 3 sketches of the addition to your creature: a front view, a side view and a top view. You can make more if needed.

Add your part to your group's creature! Once you have each done this and finished your creature make sure to post it to Google Classroom.

Remember for printing, all parts must be attached.

Now you need to have your creature printed. Ask your teacher to print it for you. Once this process is done, upload a photo to Google Classroom.

After you’ve completed your creature, we’re going to review it! In the style of a good ol’ critique. Don’t worry, we have some options for how you want to present and talk about your creature.

One option is to present your creature using Voicethread. First, take a photograph of your final creature using Photobooth on the iMac. Then, when you enter the Voicethread account provided, click “add media” and upload the image that you took. After adding the PERFECT picture of your creature, go to the next step. The top of the page will show this, click “2: Comment”.

Next, a large picture of your image will appear! In the middle, there’s a symbol of a speech bubble with a plus sign. Click it, creator! A microphone symbol will appear above it. When you’re ready to record what you think about your creature, press it and record.

After recording, publish your voicethread to be shared with your group.

Or if you decide that you’d rather talk about your creatures by writing about them on paper or on your digital tablets, you can do that instead! Just submit your reflection onto google classroom to share your thoughts with everyone.

Below we have some ideas for what you might want to talk about in your critique:

Discuss the different attributes of your creatures, why did your group choose the body parts that it did?

What formal qualities(Line, Shape, Form, Color, Texture) do you think are working in the final creature?

What is the personality of your creature?

What is your creature’s name?

What do you see in the creature?

What colors would your creature be?

Is your creature “good”, “bad”, or both? What does it mean to be good or bad? Why is your creature that way?

What is your creature afraid of?

What is your creature’s favorite hobby?
